Cult writer and director Joss Whedon came up with the idea for this 43 minute musical movie during the WGA writer’s strike, and it originally aired in three parts on the web. In the film, Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) is an aspiring villain, attempting to join the Evil League of Evil. At the same time, he is trying to woo an unsuspecting beauty he met at a Laundromat, a sweet do-gooder named Penny (Felicia Day). Unfortunately, his two projects collide as Penny meets and falls for Dr. Horrible’s nemesis, Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). Though the film is a comedy at heart, and a musical on the surface, with fourteen total songs, as the plot develops, the action takes a decidedly exciting and traumatic turn. |
