The Protestants are holding La Rochelle. The Queen is in love with the Duke of Buckingham (Simon Ward); he is supposed to send some ships in support of the rebellion. Cardinal Richelieu (Charlton Heston) wants Rochefort (Christopher Lee) to kidnap the Queen’s liaison, Constance (Raquel Welch), who is also the woman that D’Artagnan (Michael York) loves. He is the fourth Musketeer. The Cardinal employs a sneaky person named Milady de Winter (Faye Dunaway) as a distraction, but she has a bad history with Athos (Oliver Reed) and becomes D’Artagnan’s nemesis. The Musketeers, also including Porthos (Frank Finlay) and Aramis (Richard Chamberlain), battle against the rebels. Milady has her own agenda to pursue. |
