In a world of advanced technology, Batou is a cyborg working with Section 9, a special police division specializing in cyber-crimes. Section 9 is called on the case when several cyborg sex dolls turn on their owners, killing the men. With his partner, Togusa, Batou must get to the bottom of the rampaging androids. Complicating matters is Batou's former partner, Motoko. She disappeared into the net to escape government inquiries, leaving a hole in the Section 9 team, and in Batou's life. However, he must put aside personal issues to delve into the malfunctions, going deeper than he ever would have imagined, causing him to ponder the very nature of the human soul. |
