Bruce Wayne's Batman (Bruce Greenwood) and Jason Todd's Robin (Jensen Ackles) are in Sarajevo trying to stop a plot by Ra's Al Ghul (Jason Isaacs). When Robin is captured by the Joker (John DiMaggio) he beats him to death with a crowbar, Batman arriving moments too late to save his life. Flash forward five years and Batman and Dick Grayson's Nightwing (Neil Patrick Harris) are working together to try and stop a mysterious new threat in Gotham City known as the Red Hood (Jensen Ackles). This new villain has taken over the drug trafficking in Gotham City, and strangely the crime level in the city has dropped, though drug trafficking has increased. In order to stop the new threat, Batman must come to understand exactly who this Red Hood is and why he is doing what he is doing.
